Peer Educators Programme

Issue

The performing arts, especially dance, have the power to bring joy to the underprivileged, specially-challenged, visually impaired and others. It not only enables them to develop their talent, but also provides them with an outlet to creatively express themselves.

Project

The Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation supports the Victory Arts Foundation in executing its Peer Group Educators Programme.

Impact

With the support of the Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation, the programme trains 50 underprivileged, mostly out-of-school youth to become instructors at the Victory Arts Foundation and at the Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts (SDIPA). Thanks to this support, a passionate, dedicated team of instructors from SDIPA are able to conduct classes for the children of NGOs twice a week.

About the Organisation

Founded in 2004, the Victory Arts Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that endeavours to use the power of the performing arts (especially dance), to bring joy to children and adults who are underprivileged, specially-challenged, visually impaired, etc. VAF operates 70 centres across India, imparting the joy of dance to over 5000 children and adults. VAF also imparts dance training to underprivileged children, as well as physically or mentally challenged children through a partnership with nearly 35 NGOs in Mumbai.
