Vocational Training for Women

Issue

Indian education system has the rich legacy of vedic culture and learning. It contributes to holistic development of the individual through its main tenants such as foundation for a strong character and personality, inculcation of civic and social duties and vocational efficiency. Integration of vedic system of learning in the modern education system will make it richer.

Project

SIES The SIES’s Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswati Veda Vidya Pitha, Nerul, Navi Mumbai combines modern education with vedic studies. The Vidya Pitha enrolls students at an early age of 5 and takes them over a twelve year period through 10+2+3 education system as well as the complete study of the Vedas. The time before and after school is utilized to provide vedic education. The entire boarding, lodging and medical facilities is free of cost. The cost of the school fees, uniform, shoes, books, stationery, transport and other expenses are also borne by the Society. The students are admitted to the State Bank of India Officers Public School (SBOA) which is a well-known English Medium school to impart sound education which is situated close-by.

The Foundation has provided support to SIES to successfully run the Veda Vidhya Pitha. for imparting education to 26 students.

Impact

Through this initiative 26 children have been able to attain education through the Ved Vidya Pitha.

About the Organisation

South Indian Education Society (SIES), established in 1932 has always been conscious of the fact that there is a need to promote, perpetuate and propagate our ancient culture in tune with current needs.

SIES runs many educational institutions covering primary and secondary education through the SIES High School in Matunga with undergraduate, postgraduate and management level education being offered through its various colleges in Sion and Nerul.
