This Foundation grant is primarily to support several performances of the artisans from Sufi Kathak Foundation at the Royal Opera House, Mumbai. The support is towards the honorarium artists and technicians mainly. The Foundation aids in the documentation and archiving of historical heritage of artists and the art form.

Objective

To promoting traditional art forms while also providing scholarships to students pursuing classical music and dance and pension and medical insurance to needy artists.

Impact

The performances from the artisans give them livelihood options. The artists included in the performances are from small towns like Badaun etc.(around 400 artists.) The promotion of various traditional forms of Vocal Music and Kathak performances took place in metro cities like Mumbai. The funds raised from the performances were also used to support the education of the children of the artists.

About the Organisation

The Foundation is a non-profit founded by Ms. Manjari Chaturvedi to spread awareness about India’s intangible heritage in music and dance and to preserve the gradually fading more than seven hundred year old spiritual traditions in Music. The Foundation also provides scholarships to students pursuing classical music and dance and pension and medical insurance to needy artists.
