Skill Development
The widening differences between the skill-demands of the current job market and the curriculum taught in schools and colleges is a key factor in fuelling underemployment in the country. Only 5 percent of students opt for vocational training ( compared to 50 percent in the other developed countries), and this bias causes an acute lack of skilled workers in India.Since, skill-building is one of the most important factors that can contribute to employability and increased incomes, the Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation supports NGOs in this field and also promotes models of skill development that adopt a self-sustainability approach.
