Institute of Chemical Technology
The Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation firmly believes that the quality of educational institutions is a crucial issue in India’s growth and development story. Considering this, the Foundation supports reputed educational institutes, thereby promoting and sustaining their efforts as centres of excellence for higher education.
The Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation supported the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) by:
a. Establishing the Narotam Sekhsaria School of Biological Sciences and Technology at the ICT campus.
b. Supporting an awards programme to recognise significant and consistent performances of faculty members in the areas of teaching, research and service to the industry.
c. Instituting three chairs in the Department of Chemical Engineering. Of these, two are at the Professor level – the ‘Narotam Sekhsaria Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering’ and the ‘M. M. Sharma Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering’ – and one is at the Lecturer level – the ‘R. A. Mashelkar Chair in Chemical Engineering’.

The Institute of Chemical Technology is a premier institution in its field and is internationally renowned for its teaching, research and consultancy work. First instituted as a Department of Chemical Technology under the University of Mumbai (UDCT), it was subsequently made autonomous as the University Institute of Chemical Technology (UICT). Today, ICT is a deemed university.
