Infrastructure upgrade for ENT and Head & Neck Surgery Department

About the Organisation

Commonly known as Sion Hospital, the Lokmanya Tilak Hospital is equipped with a Trauma Care Centre, Intensive Cardiac Care, Neonatal Intensive Care and a Paediatric Unit.

Offering quality education and a high standard of service, the BYL Nair Charitable Hospital & TN Medical College predominately cares for the health needs of the urban poor. Located in the centre of Mumbai, the Nair hospital is a 1300-bed multispecialty, tertiary care centre. With 250 senior staff members and 400 resident doctors (many of whom are postgraduate medical students), the hospital cares for more than 1 million out-patients annually. The total number of hospital admissions exceeds 37,000 every year.

Project

The Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation assisted the infrastructural upgrade of the Department of ENT & Head and Neck Surgery at the BYL Nair Charitable Hospital & TN Medical College. With the Foundation’s support, the department at has equipped itself with Valleylab Electrosurgical Cautery Equipment.

Issue

Due to the wide prevalence of cancers in the head and neck region, the routine treatment and care provided by the ENT surgical departments have been challenged by this new development. The Surgical ENT departments in both public and private sector hospitals are in constant need for infrastructural and technical up gradation
